“The Rebel Girl” (1911)

Eighty years before Bikini Kill’s riot grrrl statement of adoration for the neighborhood “Rebel Girl,” the socialist activist and lyricist Joe Hill (1879-1915) wrote “The Rebel Girl” in support of the feminist and socialist activist Elizabeth Gurley Flynn.
