Thompson Surveys Project

Students in the Historical GIS class worked over the second half of the spring semester (2016) with the four known versions of an historic survey of the town of Rhinebeck. This survey was made by Alexander Thompson in 1798 and includes present-day Rhinebeck as well as Red Hook and Tivoli. In this project the students georeferenced the four versions of the survey, identified the labeled points or features on each of the four maps, and researched an assigned portion of these features. Their work is compiled in the following maps.
